One week to go-time

Only one more week to travel time!! I'm getting so excited... it's hard to concentrate on work. Maybe the students don't notice. They're ready to get out for the summer, so many of their brains are elsewhere too. But most of them know what's going on so they're very kind and ask how everything is going with the adoption.

I've been doing a little work every day on the house, trying to make sure I pace myself but get everything done. I spent yesterday evening cleaning my stuff out of Semira's closet and making room for her toys and clothes. This weekend I'm planning to finish the last of the baby-proofing, wash all of her new clothes and bedding, and finish those little things I never got around to after I moved in-- hanging pictures on the wall and unpacking the last few boxes of stuff I still have lying around. All of those low shelves need to be purged of stuff too. I'm not sure if she's crawling or pulling up on things yet, but I'll make sure the house is ready just in case she is.

I've also got appointments for a hair cut, dental work, carpet cleaning, etc. And Semira's grandma is going to come up and help with some stuff next week as well. I'm sure she'll see and think of things I'd miss.

7 days and counting!!!

More documents

I got even more documents today! I now have in my hands a copy of the adoption decree! I also received a bit more information about how she came to be in the orphanage. Some of the questions I had about that were answered. I still have other questions, but don't know that there will be answers to those.

In writing...

I was emailed a copy of Semira's new birth certificate yesterday... Seeing my name on her birth certificate as "adoptive mother" was really neat.
